Course Description
Children, Young People & Families Practitioners work with children, young people and families, including carers, to achieve positive and sustainable change in their lives. Practitioners are skilled in recognising and assessing the complex needs that children, young people and families often present. Practitioners work alongside other professionals and organisations to share the responsibility for improving outcomes.
Who is the course for?
Staff who may be working in a number of settings e.g. a children’s home, a residential special school or a secure children’s home and want to learn how to take the lead in developing and delivering children’s placement plans, and help them thrive.
What will you study?
Apprentices will develop a range of Behaviours expected of a Practitioner in Children’s Residential Care and Core Requirements – knowledge and skills, these are based on
the kind of statements we would typically expect children, young people and families to make about the work that the practitioner has undertaken with them.
Topics include:
- Equality, rights, diversity, cultural difference and organisation values
- Safeguarding risks and requirements
- Policy framework for working with children, young people and families
- Develop, implement and review holistic assessments and plans
Where will Apprenticeship training take place?
This will be a mixture of development in the workplace and knowledge workshops at our premises in Liverpool & St Helens and via virtual learning platforms.
Progression Opportunities
Students could progress onto the Children, young people and families manager (Level 5 standard) to further their learning.
