Course Description
Lead Adult Care Workers are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. In addition, Lead Adult Care Workers have responsibility for providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, or working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for Lead Adult Care Workers working in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings. The learner might already be a senior care worker or might be looking to make a move in to that role. With the support of the employer they will be able to use this qualification and the knowledge gained to transition in to the role.
This qualification is also suitable for those care workers with moderate to high autonomy who might work alone in a 1-1 situation and administer medication, complete all records, make decisions on the care of the service user etc.
What will you study?
Designed to build higher level knowledge and skills, this course will give students deeper insights into how to provide exemplary care while working professionally and ensuring clients are safe.
The qualification consists of 9 mandatory units including universal subjects such as communication, health and safety and duty of care, and up to 10 optional units.
Topics include:
- Treating people with respect and dignity and honouring their human rights
- Working professionally and seek to develop their own professional development
- The main tasks and responsibilities according to their job/role
- Communicating clearly and responsibly
Where will Apprenticeship training take place?
This will be a mixture of development in the workplace, independent learning, remote visits and knowledge training session at our premises in Liverpool & St Helens and via virtual learning platform.
Progression Opportunities
Students could move onto either Lead Practitioner in Adult Care (Level 4 Standard) or Leader in Adult Care (Level 5 Standard) to continue their learning and development.
