Course Description
While working towards meeting this standard apprentices will develop and learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to work in the manufacturing industry.
Who is this course for?
People working in a manufacturing environment who will know or learn how to prepare, control, contribute to and complete manufacturing operations, following manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) whilst adhering to specific safe working policies & procedures.
This qualification is for those looking to build on the fundamental skills they either have or need to work in the manufacturing industry.
What will you study?
While working towards meeting this standard apprentices will develop and learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to work in the manufacturing industry.
A Lean Manufacturing Operative will be responsible for maintaining Health and Safety requirements at all times, wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) using the equipment and tooling correctly and safely, maintain an organised work area in line with 5s (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain) disposing of waste in line with environmental systems and regulatory requirements (ISO 14001).
They will be required to contribute to, develop and support improvements in the manufacturing operation using continuous improvement tools and techniques (Deming cycle, kaizen, visual management systems and problem solving. They will be responsible for carrying out quality checks throughout the manufacturing operations to ensure quality is built in to the processes and procedures, highlighting any defects or concerns, dealing with them in line with relevant company quality standards (ISO 9002).
Where will it take place?
This will be a mixture of development in the workplace, independent learning, remote visits and knowledge training session at our premises in Liverpool & St Helens and via virtual learning platforms.
Progression Opportunities
On successful completion, Apprentices could progress onto the next level with the option to complete a Level 3 qualification.
