How to become a homeopath
You can get into this job through:
- a university course
- a course run by a private training organisation
University
You could take a qualification recognised by one of the professional organisations for homeopathy, like a degree in homeopathy. Courses take 3 years full time or at least 4 years part time. All recognised programmes include supervised practice. If you're a qualified healthcare professional like a doctor, nurse, dentist, pharmacist or midwife, you could take a postgraduate homeopathy course approved by the Faculty of Homeopathy
University (Entry requirements)
You'll usually need:
- 2 or 3 A levels, or equivalent, including a science, for a degree
- a degree in a relevant subject for postgraduate study
Volunteering & Experience
You could do some work shadowing with a homeopath to find out more about homeopathy and how to get started.
Other routes
You could study for a homeopathy diploma with a private training college. You'll usually need:
- knowledge of science
- relevant life experience

You could work in a therapy clinic, from home or at a client's home.

With experience you could move into teaching homeopathic courses. You could also work in journalism, specialising in complementary therapies. You may decide to work in the manufacture of homeopathic remedies and products.
