Course Description
Our HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering allows you to up your engineering skills and work towards becoming a professional engineer. The course will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to bring together engineering elements in project based assignments related to the needs of the engineering sector.
It is also an ideal progression route for those who have completed a level 3 engineering course or apprenticeship and wish to expand their current qualifications and take their level of education higher.
What will I study?
You will be taught at our Engineering Centre. During this course you will develop a broad-based knowledge at a technical level, and as such provides you with a qualification that reflects your theoretical and practical knowledge.. You will also develop an understanding of different organisations and managing change.
You will complete a realistic technological project utilising the skills and knowledge from the course as well as some planning tools and techniques to manage the project effectively.
How will I be assessed?
All units are assessed by a selected combination of assignments, progress tests, classwork, case studies and end of session assessment.
Assessment takes placed throughout the academic year and is not end loaded. You will be fully supported by our experienced team with a wide range of interests reflecting all areas of Engineering. All staff have experience of working in industry.
Careers and Progression Route
The HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering provides you with the skills demanded by industry, recognised by employers and enhances promotion prospects in supervisory, junior and middle management positions within the industry.
Learners who complete this course can progress to the HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering at University Centre St Helens or potentially directly onto the second year of an appropriate degree at University.
Course Entry Guidelines
You should hold one of the following qualifications: Engineering National Certificate/Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or possess an equivalent qualification. Mature learners with appropriate life experience will have their prior learning and skills taken into account for entry onto this course.
Course Fees
Tuition fees are £2,085 plus VAT per annum for learners enrolling in academic year 2019/20. Various tuition fee payment methods may be available to learners / employers. More information is available upon application.
