Course Description
The C&G 2377-22 is a technical course aimed at electricians or personnel with an electrical background, who wish to undertake the practical inspection and testing of electrical equipment. The course will enable candidates to develop the skills required to test portable appliances in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
Course content:
Statutory and non-statutory requirements relevant to the management of electrical equipment maintenance
Electrical units of measurement associated with in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment
Equipment constructor and classification reduces the risk of electric shock
Procedures for the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment
How to carry out combined inspection and testing:
- Test instruments and calibration
- Flexible cable and cord set protective conductor resistance -
- Earth continuity testing -
- Insulation resistance testing -
- Protective conductor/touch current testing
- Polarity checks -
- Function and load testing -
- RCD testing for extension leads and multi-way adaptors -
- Checks and tests for microwave ovens -
- Appliance cord sets -
- Equipment with high protective conductor current -
- Interpretation of test results
